Program Description: The South Jersey Elite Barons Youth Academy is proud to announce a new program designed to further enhance our club’s goal of not only producing top-quality soccer players but also successful students and well-rounded individuals. At SJEB we understand that both success on the soccer field and success in the classroom go hand in hand. As a club we want to continue to offer players as many avenues for development as possible and therefore we are offering a new education service aimed at improving players grades and/or SAT scores. As coaches we attempt to emphasize to players and parents the importance of grades (especially when it comes to college recruitment time) and as a club we attempt to utilize all of the resources available to us to provide the most complete soccer and school experience we can. Therefore, the goal of this new program is to provide personal, one-on-one tutoring to players who are struggling with their language arts classes or SAT/HSPA standardized tests. Many of our players take part in personal soccer training sessions and we would like to extend that same service to the classroom.

What to Expect:

• Personal, hands on training in language arts for your player from a qualified and experienced instructor.
• Curriculum and/or standardized test based improvements.
• Specific tips and strategies for excelling on the SAT (college entrance exam) or the HSPA (mandatory high school graduation exam).
• 1 hour sessions (sign up for as many or as few as you like)
• Instructor provided materials; no expensive books for you to buy.
• Convenient, mutually agreed upon tutoring schedule (weeknights and/or weekends)

Instructor:

Ian Simmons – Language Arts teacher at Williamstown High School and SJEB Coach

• Bachelor’s Degree in English from Rutgers University 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Rutgers University
• Honors graduate and Nominee for NJ Student Teacher of the Year (2007)
• 4 years classroom experience in Language Arts Literacy
• Experience with all 4 high school grade level students
• Extensive experience teaching HSPA preparation courses at Williamstown High School
• SAT preparation and tutoring at Williamstown High School and West Deptford High School with senior students
